Write a speech better with the best tools

What's your equipment voice?

My husband is a young instrument. He is a man car and a DIY man, so his passion drove him to every instrument known to man, animals and God collected. Well, I thought that every instrument its own. They are often surprised at how you can walk through the tool department at Sears and it's still something that not only is this not also, but even so that the overall slope of its axis. And how many times I have heard words of frustration, but in the middle of a project that hasproclaimed: "I can not finish it, I do not have the right tools!" I shake my head in amazement my shelves and shelves of fresh, but many tools neatly arranged in the garage and basement crawl. He knows the value of the right tools.

As a speaker, you know the value of the instruments of law? We have the resources we need? We use the resources we have? I'm not a great writer, so I am forced to make better use of my work to post, easier and more efficient. I can not countMy intellectual brilliance, because I do not so much. I need help. The tools I use are simple, but effective for them, those that can be used to great improvements in your post.

Tool # 1: Thesaurus

Also known as "Dictionary of synonyms and antonyms" A Thesaurus is the most powerful tool I use. Did you know that you can get as a communicator, just by using a vocabulary interesting? In most cases, the vocabulary imaginative and persuasiveinvolve the public more quickly, hold their attention longer, and challenge their minds more powerful than the more general words. A thesaurus will help you get a word more descriptive, accurate and convincing conclusion. For example, "something interesting" as "healthy" is described, "interesting", "magnetic" or "good taste". Instead of saying "soft" samples "calm", "relaxing", "rest" or "benign." Alternative words to add both the nature and importance of the message. English languageFilled with colorful and expressive words. Use a thesaurus to find them!

On my desk I have two dictionaries that I have used for decades. The Roget's College Thesaurus in Dictionary Form is my favorite print version. It 'easy to use and quite complete. I also use the thesaurus.com web site that is slightly faster and easier to read with my eyes dimming earlier. One caveat: Make sure the words you choose to talk more expressive style, and makes no noiseIf you're reading a thesaurus. Some words are easier to read than said. The word "happiness" is a synonym for "fun", but this seems a bit 'pretentious or false, whether in a speech, unless you use the correct context and rendering techniques.

Tool # 2: Glossary

It 'clear that a dictionary is needed to ensure the correct spelling in a written document, but it's worth a speaker should not be reduced. Sure is used to determine the correct pronunciation, butToo often, when I thought I was a big word, it was abused, because I did not understand its true meaning. While there are many words often wrong, there is also a term usually used for improper use of a word in a speech can crush your credibility, even paralyzed. For example, in my previous career as an engineer for NASA, I've often made presentations to explain the results of our research. One of my colleagues with more experience to point out that I was abusedThe term "data" when referring to a single piece of information. "Data" is plural. "Date" is singular. For that audience, are a bit 'naive. For example, I heard a speaker use the word "decency" to refer to the decoration of a room. The term actually refers to a high level for a worthy behavior or appearance. This is a subtle but important difference. Make sure you have the correct meaning of a word, even if you think you are correct is to research!

A dictionary is also a fantasticCreative tool. Alliteration is a strong drive to speak and write … the use of words that start with the letter. This is a technique that is comfortable for the listener, you get the points to remember when you speak, and have great power to hearing. I have no regrets about writing to overcome, and the three points in the declaration are: the filter capacitors, forgetfulness Force, standing in front. The evolution of this message subtitles, I dictionary entries under a scanningletter … In this case I chose "f", because the core of my message was to look forward, not back. I have a list of words that begin with "f" and then put together phrases created to reflect the content of the message. It may seem slow and cumbersome, but the inspiration is initiated, it is exciting.

Another creative technique is the use of symbols: words, a word whose first letter is. In a speech that I made, I was encouraging people to volunteer their time, so I spentThe word "serve" as an abbreviation for my 5 points. The items "Skills", "energy", "Reports", "Vision" and "experience". Again, for these words to find the key concepts that I had in mind, and scan lists of dictionary to find words to fit.

Tool # 3: rhyming Dictionary

Why Dr. Seuss is so attractive? This is because a magnet rhymes and poems. Ideas flowing and the brain follows. When I discovered a rhyming dictionary, I got a new world of feelings of innovativeputter discourse has evolved in the eyes.

You know how much more imperative that we speak, could be a couple of rhymes? And I bet if you have a rhyming dictionary, you will be surprised when I was with how many rhymes can be obtained for a particular word. For example, my Miriam Webster Dictionary lists 72 rhyming word that rhymes with "dream." Without a rhyming dictionary, you probably think of a dozen. I never thought of "defamation", "downstream" or "radius of the moon." TheEntrance to "eat" to other pages that contain words such as "interpolated", "necessity" and "tax". There was once strange and unusual words like "phosphoenolpyruvate." The value of this quantity is unpredictable!

Craig Valentine, 1999 Toastmasters World Champion of public speaking, to know that a beautiful story about a major statement: a clear message that this is 10 words or less should be. We learn that an effective way of this structure is to use a rhyme. When I attended the finals of the World contest in public speaking, the title of my speech is "a blessing, not impress, which is a part of my sentence foundation is:" Do not hide behind pride, trying to bless, not impressed. "This creamy, pleasant sound, and blockaded the public. Plus, he spoke in rhyme is fun for everyone. (Second! A rhyme!)

Tool # 4: Books of quotes and words of inspiration

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote: "Besides the founder of aDiscernment is the first mention of it. "Montaigne, one of the most influential writers of the French Renaissance, wrote:" I have no thoughts for others to speak, except to speak my thoughts better. "

A good case can be a great speech for the use of quotes. Accomplishes several things. A good choice of quotation can greatly increase the impact of the message. Imagine if you have a strong step of speech, you park to listen to a minute on the tank and measure its impact? Not only can you draw from exceptionally good communicators, you can improve your credibility if your mind so deep to express. You must also showed his willingness to learn from others. E 'levels the way for the public, because they see you as the hero … The hero is the source of the quote. Builds a bridge and maybe three people, is this: you, the listener and the author's original citation. And inexplicably, using a quotation as well is a"Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval" in your post, because now there is an external authority, meshes with your message.

Sources for quotes in abundance! I have no fewer than six volumes of quotes on my shelf. I chose the internet for quotes. I'm not a bookworm, I'm an incurable during recovery. 'm Always looking for quotes to use, and use them liberal. You should too. And in any case, be sure to credit the author (or admit that you do not know the author.) SeFailure to do so, it means that you are the original and it is inevitable that someone in the audience knows that they are not, and your credibility is gone.

Tool # 5: books of jokes, humorous stories, illustrations

As speakers, we know that humor is necessary to add life to our posts. Humorous and fun, but also provides a transition from the emotional tension built up in a segment of speech. The public will be allowed to get rid of intensity. The stories and illustrations are of fundamental importance, because they are complex concepts in a short amount of words to explain. I personally love the story of a file on my computer … a Word document where I have a log of interesting events of my life, in order to use it as an example of a speech. I also have several books with jokes and humor that I could see, not to use word for word, but to stimulate my creativity, so I can humor in stories that I gathered from my life not to be discovered.

Just aA couple of my favorite speech writing instruments. Marshall McLuhan, Canadian philosopher and the influential and passionate about pop culture in the '70s, wrote: "We are what we see. Develop our tools and thereafter our tools shape us." How I admire my husband for his skill with his tools, I see that his tools are his passion. Even yours. Become the speaker allows the tool to the shape of your passion and hone your skills, so your audience with a memorable and powerful message.
