Survival of the Savvy was on my library about a month before I had the privilege of meeting the author, Rick Brandon, a conference of leaders in San Francisco, where we both spoke. Our conversations at different times, so I got to Rick's presentation to attend.
That was when I realized how important this book wasall the women I work with are often underestimated, ignored and denied due recognition for their achievements because they abhor and avoid anything connected with the word politics. If this sounds like you are not alone.
The survival of the fittest! That 's what it feels like the work that sometimes the world. I know how difficult it may be. I worked in the company since the mid-1980s, where the political games of all types – chainsaw battles, back biting,Cape wars and blind ambition.
Reading the book one learns that the stereotype of the "political", which is normally very political and is currently the unethical behavior is certainly not what the authors suggest.
Survival of the Savvy style describes the political continuum, ranging from a few political types, who are hardworking, really believe and have a good idea, is probably too much political individuals driven by personal interest.
BrandonSeldman set a medium of high integrity (aka more acceptable and ethical) approach to politics that even the most reluctant to use it politically. They call it the green light / safe area to travel. This balance should not be political or politically naive.
Power and politics are dirty words. You can promote with integrity. These are important messages in the book for all women in business, especially those traditionally less political career tracksadvance to positions of responsibility – women in science, the fields of R & D, IT, engineering and other technical.
The authors help readers successfully that the idea of a platform for politics, I hate how they approved of power and politics. They offer practical advice and even the political background.
The farther you go, the more it is vulnerable yet politically naive. The authors say that their experience with ethical skills are a politicalleadership skills.
